The Role:
Factory Assistant supports Berkeley Engineering’s manufacturing operations by assisting with parts assembly, finishing processes, material handling, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. This role ensures smooth workflow and contributes to the delivery of high-quality engineering products.
In your new role with us, you will be performing:
Parts Assembly & Finishing:
- Assist in the assembly of engineering components according to technical specifications.
- Perform basic finishing processes such as deburring, cleaning, and surface preparation.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow all Berkeley Engineering workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ensure correct use of PPE and adherence to safe manual handling practices.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly to the Supervisor.
Basic Quality Assurance:
- Inspect components for visible defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Report any non-conformance or irregularities to the Team Leader
General Factory Support:
- Operate basic machinery and tools under supervision.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the factory floor and workstations.
- Monitor stock levels of consumables and report shortages.
- Assist CNC machinists and machine operators as required to meet production schedules.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment (preferred).
- Ability to read and follow basic technical instructions.
- Physically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Forklift license or willingness to obtain (advantageous).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual handling tasks.
- Comfortable working in an industrial environment.
Work Conditions:
- Exposure to machinery, tools, and varying temperatures.
- Mandatory use of PPE (safety boots, gloves, eye protection, etc.).
